How to Download Pinterest Images Without Watermark (Original Quality)

Pinterest photos are beautiful, but the app only lets you "save" them inside Pinterest. If you want the original image for a mood board, a design reference, or your own archive, here's how to download Pinterest images without a watermark — at the original resolution Pinterest actually stored.

The problem with in-app saves

Saving a Pin inside Pinterest just bookmarks it — you can't open the file, edit it, or move it anywhere. And screenshots are low quality and often show the Pinterest UI, the like/comment overlay, and the bottom navigation bar. They're fine for sharing on a group chat, terrible for design work.

How to get the original image

1. Tap share on the Pin and choose Copy link.
2. Paste the link into pinsave.app.
3. Hit Download image.
4. PinSave fetches the original, full-resolution file — no watermark, no cropping.

The trick is that Pinterest serves images at several sizes (thumbnail, "pinner-board-cover", full-size original, and on rare occasions a 2× retina version). PinSave always picks the largest public variant for that Pin, so you get exactly what the photographer uploaded.

Where you'll find the file on each device

• iPhone / iPad — the file appears in Files → Downloads (or wherever you sent it from the share sheet). On older iOS it may also show up in Photos.
• Android — in Downloads by default. Open Files by Google to move it into a project folder.
• Mac — the file lands in Downloads. Drag into Photos, Preview, or your editor.
• PC — same as Mac, but in C:\Users\<you>\Downloads.

A note on quality

PinSave always pulls the largest version Pinterest hosts. If a Pin was uploaded small (a 720-pixel image, say), that's the best available — but it's still the clean original, never a re-compressed screenshot.

Things that can go wrong

• "File is too small." That is the original — Pinterest hosts it at a small size and we can't conjure pixels that aren't there. Try searching for the same image on a stock-photo site or the original creator's portfolio for a higher-res version.
• "Permission denied." The Pin is on a private board. We can only access what anonymous visitors see.
• "Image won't open." Some Android gallery apps display a preview of the file while it's still downloading. Wait a second and try again.

Do I need to log in? No — paste a public Pin link and download.

What about EXIF metadata? Public Pins keep the metadata the creator uploaded (camera, location tags, captions). PinSave does not strip or alter metadata.

A note on copyright

Images on Pinterest are still owned by whoever created them. Saving an image for personal, offline viewing is generally tolerated; using it in a commercial product, on a website, or in printed materials without the creator's permission is not. Credit link back to the original Pin when in doubt.
